NYC Pizza Week celebrates the independent shops that make New York the greatest pizza city in the world, and the people and stories behind every slice. Every participating shop is independently owned, with no backing from private equity or venture capital.
If your shop catches our eye, we’ll visit anonymously to taste the pizza and make sure it meets the bar for NYC Pizza Week.
The biggest thing we look for is consistency. If you make several styles (NYC style slices, grandma, Sicilian, Detroit, Roman, tavern, etc), every one of them has to be great. We won’t feature a shop with “the best grandma in Brooklyn” if everything else on the counter falls short.
When someone travels across the city to eat your pizza, every slice they try should blow them away. That’s the standard we hold every participating shop to.
