The Opportunity
The Store Lead is a key member of the retail leadership team, serving as a role model for outstanding sales performance, exceptional customer experiences, and professional team conduct. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who leads by example, takes initiative, and understands how to translate company expectations into strong daily store performance.
Working closely with the Regional Manager, the Store Lead helps maintain smooth store operations, supports staffing and scheduling requirements, addresses day-to-day challenges, and fosters a positive, accountable, and collaborative team environment.
The successful candidate combines strong sales instincts with sound judgment, practical problem-solving skills, and the ability to coach and influence others. They are comfortable stepping forward when challenges arise, supporting colleagues through difficult situations, and ensuring that Blue Sky's brand values are reflected in every customer and team interaction.
Sales Leadership & Customer Experience
· Model outstanding selling competencies, including customer engagement, needs discovery, product recommendations, add-on selling, and confident closing techniques.
· Lead by example on the sales floor, demonstrating the behaviours and service standards expected of every team member.
· Support the achievement of store sales targets and key performance indicators, including average transaction value (ATV), units per transaction (UPT), and shopper-to-buyer conversion.
· Coach and encourage team members in real time to strengthen selling skills, product knowledge, and confidence.
· Ensure customers receive personalized, welcoming, and knowledgeable service consistent with Blue Sky's brand and values.
· Address customer concerns professionally and take appropriate action to resolve issues while protecting the customer relationship and company interests.
Team Leadership & Workplace Culture
· Set a positive example through professionalism, accountability, initiative, and respectful communication.
· Help establish clear expectations for teamwork, productivity, customer service, and appropriate workplace conduct.
· Support team members in navigating day-to-day challenges, encouraging constructive communication and collaboration.
· Recognize and address interpersonal tension, misunderstandings, and emerging conflicts promptly and appropriately, escalating more complex or sensitive matters to the Regional Manager.
· Promote a respectful, inclusive, and solutions-focused work environment, addressing concerns directly rather than allowing negativity or unresolved issues to undermine team performance.
· Assist with onboarding, training, and the ongoing development of team members.
Staffing & Scheduling Support
· Work directly with the Regional Manager to identify and troubleshoot staffing and scheduling challenges.
· Help coordinate shift coverage for absences, unexpected changes in availability, and fluctuations in store traffic, within established scheduling guidelines and delegated authority.
· Communicate staffing gaps, operational pressures, and potential scheduling conflicts promptly, recommending practical solutions.
· Support adherence to approved schedules, attendance expectations, and established company procedures.
· Help ensure the store is appropriately staffed to deliver excellent service and meet business needs, while referring scheduling decisions requiring approval to the Regional Manager.
Store Operations & Standards
· Support the daily operation of the store, ensuring that opening, closing, cash handling, and transaction procedures are followed accurately.
· Maintain excellent merchandising standards, ensuring products are well presented, properly displayed, replenished, and organized.
· Oversee the timely and accurate processing of shipments, inventory movement, store transfers, returns, exchanges, and web orders as required.
· Maintain a clean, organized, welcoming, and commercially effective retail environment.
· Stay current with company policies, promotions, product information, communications, and operational procedures, helping ensure they are consistently implemented.
· Identify operational issues and take initiative to resolve routine problems within the scope of the role.
· Assist with the effective use of store technology, point-of-sale systems, and other operational tools.
Communication & Partnership with the Regional Manager
· Maintain regular, open communication with the Regional Manager regarding sales performance, staffing, team dynamics, customer concerns, and operational issues.
· Provide timely, accurate information about store performance, emerging challenges, and opportunities for improvement.
· Bring forward practical recommendations and contribute to solutions rather than simply reporting problems.
· Help implement company initiatives, merchandising direction, sales strategies, and operational improvements.
· Exercise sound judgment in determining which matters can be resolved independently and which require management guidance or escalation
Other Responsibilities
· Adapt to changing business needs and provide hands-on support wherever required.
· Perform other related duties consistent with the scope and responsibilities of the position.
Qualifications & Experience
· Previous experience in fashion, apparel, specialty retail, or a customer-focused sales environment.
· Demonstrated success in selling, customer engagement, and achieving individual or team sales goals.
· Experience supporting, coaching, or guiding colleagues in a team environment; previous retail leadership experience is an asset.
· Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to address challenging conversations constructively.
· Sound judgment, initiative, and demonstrated problem-solving abilities.
· Ability to manage competing priorities and respond effectively to unexpected staffing, customer service, and operational challenges.
· Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
