Understanding light, shadow, and transparency in watercolor
How watercolor behaves differently from other mediums — embracing the unpredictable
Exercise — painting simple petal shapes, exploring colour and light
Session 3 — Painting Your First Flower
Observing a flower — how to simplify what you see into paintable shapes
Building a flower layer by layer — from light to dark
Adding depth — shading petals and surfaces
Bringing together colour, water, and brush control
Exercise — painting several complete flowers and leaves from start to finish
Session 4 — Your Final Composition
Composing a small floral arrangement on the page
Bringing together everything learned — colour, light, composition, and technique
Creating your own complete finished painting
Personalised feedback and review of your progress throughout the course
How it works:
Sessions
All sessions are held online via Zoom or Google Meet
Sessions are 45 minutes, once per week
Your Zoom/Google Meet link will be sent to you by email before your first session
After each session
You will receive a PDF summarising the session content and techniques covered
The PDF includes your practice assignment for the week
Photograph your completed assignment and send it to Negin by email at least 48 hours before your next session
Negin will review your work, prepare corrections, and tailor the next session to your progress
Practice
You are expected to practise regularly between sessions
Assignments are an essential and non-negotiable part of the learning process — please only register if you are committed to completing them
Students who dedicate time to practice between sessions will see remarkable results
