Well Engineering Digital Tools: Industry Survey

EngiWell Technologies is conducting a short industry survey to better understand how well engineers use digital engineering tools today, where existing workflows work well, and where there may be opportunities to make things simpler, faster and more connected.

The survey should only take a few minutes. Responses may be submitted anonymously and will be used to help guide development of new well engineering digital tools.

1. A bit about you.

Which area best describes your current role (select all that apply)?

How many years of industry experience do you have working in a wells related disciline?

2. How you currently work?

For each of the below tools please select how many times a week you would use them on a scale of 0 to 10. Zero being not at all, and 10 being all the time.

Spreadsheets

Specialist commercial well engineering software

Company developed internal tools / apps

Python / MATLAB / other coding tools

Power BI / Data visualisation tools

CAD / VISIO / Drawing software

Well Data / Integrity Management Platforms

General purpose AI tools

If other please provide details.

Which specialist tools or applications do you use most frequently?

How much of your day to day engineering tasks rely on spreadsheets?

A

E

What are the biggest frustrations you experience with current well engineering software and workflows? Choose up to three.

Which routine tasks consume more engineering time than you think they should? (select up to 5)

3. What would you like to see in future digital tools?

If you could improve one thing about the digital tools you currently use for well engineering, what would it be?

How valuable would you find each of the following capabilities in anew digital well engineering package. With 1 being no value and 5 being extremely valuable.

Structured well data stored once and reused across multiple tools via a shared database.

Automated well schematic / architecture visualisations

Well integrity / barrier visualisation

Leak path visualisation and risk assessment

Interactive well trajectory planning and visualisation

Integrated nodal analysis / IPR / VLP modelling

Torque & drag modelling

Tubing / casing stress screening

Everyday engineering calculators

Automated engineering reports / outputs

Shared project / well workspace

If you could choose only three of those capabilities which would add the most value to you?

4. What about something new?

EngiWell Technologies is developing a modular online engineering platform designed around practical well engineering workflows. Individual tools would be available independently, while sharing common well and project data where appropriate. The aim is not to replace specialist engineering packages, but to make common engineering tasks easier, faster and more accessible.
