Charlie’s Fare, a new Boston-based literary magazine, is open for submissions for our second issue.

We welcome:

Fiction (1,000 to 10,000 words)

Flash fiction (1,000 words or less)

Poetry (up to six poems)

Literary criticism (1,000 to 10,000 words)

Submissions are open through October 15, 2026.

Issue no. 2 releases November 9, 2026.

Issue no. 1 debuts September 1, 2026.

Is there a submission fee?

No.

What do the Editors look for in submissions?

We're drawn especially to work with a certain timeless and human quality, and to writers with a strong vision and voice. Themes of interest include, but are not limited to: the individual, alienation, society, and the mob; spirituality, sin, and redemption; coming of age; social and economic class; ambition, hopes, and illusions; nature and the land; the rural and the urban; the gothic, the surreal, and the strange.

Guidelines are a limiting thing. We welcome work that does not fall neatly into any one of these themes, or that break traditional literary motifs or conventions.

If published, do I retain the rights to my work?

Yes. Authors retain full rights to their work. We request only first publication rights, meaning your piece may be published elsewhere after appearing in Charlie’s Fare, with a note acknowledging its original publication with us.
