The Site Survey: Where Are You Standing?

I numb out. I turn to a secret habit, a substance, or endless scrolling just to turn my brain off.

I get angry or double down on my work, trying to force the situation back under my control.

I stop, take a breath, and hand the weight over to God.

I isolate myself. I feel disgusted and avoid God until I can string a few good days together.

I admit the failure immediately, accept God’s grace without making excuses, and move forward.

I ask for forgiveness, but I carry a heavy cloud of shame and anxiety, wondering if God is angry with me.

Things look fine to the world, but I feel empty, dry, or disconnected on the inside.

A genuine sense of stability and peace, regardless of what is happening around me.

Significant struggles that I am working hard to keep hidden from others.

I have at least one or two people who know the unfiltered truth about my life and my struggles.

No one. I handle my problems on my own. I cannot afford to let people see me failing.

Maybe my spouse or a close friend, but I would likely hold back the worst or most embarrassing details.

I listen politely to keep the peace, but internally I dismiss what they are saying and make excuses for my behavior.

I take a step back, listen to what they have to say, and honestly evaluate if I am in the wrong.

I get defensive, shut down, or immediately point out their flaws so I do not have to deal with mine.

I am actively involved. I am building real relationships and looking for ways to serve the people around me.

I attend pretty regularly. I mostly keep to myself and leave as soon as the service is over.

Myself. I spiral into deep guilt and beat myself up over it for days.

I take responsibility for my part, learn the lesson, and refuse to spiral into blame.

It would hurt, but my foundation would hold. My identity is rooted in Christ, not my career or my accomplishments.

Massive anxiety. I know God loves me, but I would feel completely lost without a clear role or task to complete.

Total collapse. My identity is entirely tied up in what I do and what I provide.

Settled. I am comfortable sitting in the quiet and focusing on my thoughts or God.

Highly anxious. I would have to find a distraction immediately.

Restless and bored. My mind would race with all the things I should be doing.

I open the Bible and study it for myself, actively seeking God's specific instruction for my life.

I do not really get much right now. I just try to figure things out on my own.

I rely mostly on Sunday sermons, podcasts, or reading other people's books.

Extreme confusion and doubt. I start obsessively analyzing my life to figure out what I did wrong to cause this.

Grief, but deep trust. I do not understand why this is happening, but I lean on God's sovereignty over the storm.

Deep resentment. I feel betrayed because I did my part, and God did not do His.

I find an excuse for why that specific rule does not apply to my unique modern situation. I keep the habit.

I feel a deep sense of guilt and agree that I need to change, but I delay taking action until things "settle down."

I admit the error and sever the tie to the habit immediately, regardless of the temporary pain it causes.

I see this success as a resource God gave me so I can better serve and provide for the people around me.

I am just glad it is over and I did not look foolish or fail in front of everyone.

I worked hard, and I want people to recognize my competence and give me the credit I deserve.
