A leading insurance carrier is seeking a Senior Underwriter to join its Environmental Casualty team in Houston. This role will expand and manage an existing primary and excess portfolio, owning everything from submission solicitation and underwriting analysis to issuing indications, quotes, and binders.
Compensation: Up to $180K base
Work arrangement: Hybrid (Houston, TX)
What you'll do:
• Underwrite new and renewal business across Combined Form Package (GL, Pollution, Professional), Commercial Auto, Workers' Comp, and Excess Liability
• Evaluate risk, set coverage terms and pricing, and issue indications, quotes, and binders
• Track pipeline activity and provide weekly production forecasts
• Build strong retail and wholesale broker relationships, including travel within assigned territories
What you bring:
• 5+ years underwriting casualty lines (GL, WC, Commercial Auto, Excess) — pollution experience preferred
• Strong risk assessment, pricing, and portfolio management skills
• Established broker relationships (retail and wholesale)
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills
