Orbit is not asking for full story ideas at this stage.
Before we learn the details of your plot, world, characters, or manuscript, we want to understand your heart for the reader.
Many writers begin with a world they want to build, a character they love, or a story they personally want to tell. That matters. But Orbit is also built around the reader’s emotional experience — what the story helps them feel, notice, question, remember, heal, hope for, or carry with them.
We are interested in writers who understand that a story can be entertaining, imaginative, funny, romantic, intense, mysterious, adventurous, or strange — and still leave the reader with something meaningful.
Your story can live in any world. What we want to know first is what you hope your work says to the people who read it.
