We are seeking a talented student who is interested in pursuing a career in commercial editing. This is an opportunity to work directly with our senior and assistant editors on client projects and to gain an in-depth knowledge of current post-production workflow and techniques. This intern will receive hands-on experience with post-production tasks that occur during the project lifespan. These tasks include:
● Logging and organizing of incoming projects.
● Conforming final mix + color and creating final deliverables.
● Backing up and archiving of projects.
● Management of data storage.
● Performing editorial support tasks such as making string outs of shots, assembly edits, titles, and motion graphics.
● If proven capable there will be opportunities to own full projects start to finish.
● Serve as assistant editor for the project.
● Report to post producer and lead editor at all stages of the post-production process.
● Execute revisions per company request.
● Deliver completed edits of cutdowns/socials as designated by post producers.
● Keep the office vibes high! Assist in stocking kitchen and office supplies.
● Research AI tools and strategies to aid company operations.
● Proficient in Adobe applications, especially Premiere and After Effects.
● Motivated self-starter skilled in multitasking, time management, and organization.
● Grit and passion for the creative process of editing.
● A digital native, but a vocal communicator that is driven, efficient, curious, and resourceful.
● A willingness to multitask and the ability to prioritize to-do lists.
● Willingness to provide creative feedback as well as quality control.
● Calm and deliberate demeanor within a highly dynamic, fast-paced environment.
This candidate should be a self-motivated, tech-savvy, video junkie that has a passion for process and an eye for detail. We are seeking grit over experience and humility over ego. This is an opportunity to grow your experience and technical know-how in all things editorial in a fast-paced production environment and build a commercial portfolio. If you are looking to become a commercial editor, this internship can be an effective springboard into that career track. This is a part time, 12-week paid internship starting in June and ending in August. Work will be conducted in person at Vagrants’ office 2 days/week in Somerville, MA. Intern will be expected to work in our office from 10am - 5pm. The program starts with hands-on training but develops into more responsibility and creative freedom as the intern masters skills.
Your task – Craft a compelling edit with the footage we provide that showcases your storytelling style, pacing, rhythm, and creativity. We’re not just looking for technical skill — we want to see your voice as an editor. We encourage you to add music, SFX, graphics, VO or anything you think will make the edit come to life.
