How Culture, Memory, and Social Interaction Create Shared False Realities

Have you ever remembered a word, image, event, or detail in a way that later turned out to be different from the reality, or the "truth" ? Sometimes, many people can share a similar memory even when that memory is not accurate in the reality.

This survey explores how personal experiences, childhood media environments, cultural and historical backgrounds, and social conversations and interactions may relate to shared memories.

There are no right or wrong answers. We are interested in what you remember and what you have experienced, rather than testing how well you remember something. Please answer based on your own experience and do not worry about whether your answer is “correct”.

Since there are several free response questions, most of them are set as optional. However, we do hope you could answer those questions for our deeper and further analysis. If you do not want to (or do not have time to) use your keyboard to type words, we do recommend you to use voice input feature to help you type the words. Please do not worry about your responses. We will organize and paraphrase such information during data analysis process.

Your responses will be used only for academic purposes and will be analyzed together with other responses. No personal information will be collected through this survey. Please do not fill your personal information, such as your social media account identifier, your bank account number, or any of your passwords into any of the blanks in this survey. After you hit the submit bottom, you authorize the owner of this survey to use information provided by you for research.

Thank you so much for taking the time to participate!
