Online Course - Ornamental Floral Design

Currently accepting students for April & May.

The art of ornamental botanical design is a meditative practice rooted in centuries of global decorative traditions. These online courses offer you a rare opportunity to learn this unique discipline from the comfort of your home.

These courses are offered on a one-to-one basis only. Each student works directly and exclusively with Negin, in a dedicated space designed around their individual pace and needs.

These are not passive courses. After each session, students receive a PDF with the session summary and a practice assignment. You are expected to complete the assignment and send your work to Negin for personal correction and feedback before the next session. This follow-up is what makes the learning truly transformative.

This programme consists of two separate sequential courses:

Ornamental Floral Design — Introduction to Drawing — the foundation course, taught entirely through pencil drawing Ornamental Floral Design — Introduction to Colour — the colour course, building directly on the drawing foundation

Both courses can be registered for individually or as a bundle. The Colour course requires prior completion of the Drawing course.

Ornamental Floral Design — Introduction to Colour

•4 sessions in total •45 minutes per session •Once per week

⚠️ This course requires prior completion of the Introduction to Drawing course. Please do not register if you have not completed the drawing module.

Building on your drawing foundation, this course introduces you to the world of colour within ornamental botanical design. You will learn to choose and prepare your materials, master the art of outlining, and begin working with colour — not as a matter of personal taste, but as a discipline rooted in tradition. The Persian illumination palette follows its own philosophy: each colour carries meaning, occupies a specific role in the composition, and relates to the others according to principles refined over centuries. You will learn to see colour this way, and to apply it with the same precision and intentionality that defines this art form.

Course structure:

Session 1 — Colour Foundations and the Art of Outlining Session 2 — Colour Harmony and Understanding the Traditional Palette Session 3 — Applying Colour to Leaves, Foliage, and Decorative Elements Session 4 — Shading, Depth, and Your Final Composition

Each session builds on the previous one. By the end of the course, your ornamental botanical drawing will come fully to life in colour. 🌿

A full materials list will be sent upon booking.
