Get Nutrihelp - Safeguarding Policy

Practice Name: Get Nutrihelp
Practitioner: Kath Nagle
Effective Date: September 2026
Review Date: September 2027

1. Policy Statement

Get Nutrihelp is committed to providing a safe, ethical, and supportive environment for all clients. This practice recognizes its duty of care to safeguard young people (aged 16 and 17) and adults, particularly those who may be in vulnerable circumstances, from abuse, neglect, or harm. This practice does not accept clients under the age of 16.

2. Scope & Definitions

This policy applies to all clients aged 16 and above attending face-to-face or online kinesiology, nutritional therapy, and subtle energy sessions.

Young Person (16–17): Individuals aged 16 or 17 who are legally able to give independent informed consent for their own health and wellness consultations, but remain protected under statutory child and young person safeguarding provisions.

Adult at Risk: An adult (18+) who has needs for care and support, is experiencing (or is at risk of) abuse or neglect, and as a result of those needs is unable to protect themselves against the abuse or neglect or the risk of it.

3. Key Principles

Right to Safety: Every client has the right to live and receive care free from abuse, exploitation, and harm.

Informed Consent: Young people aged 16–17 and adults are presumed to have capacity to consent to their own assessment and care plan unless established otherwise.

Proportionality & Empowerment: Any action taken regarding safeguarding concerns will respect the client’s rights, wishes, and autonomy as far as safety allows.

4. Confidentiality and Its Limits

Confidentiality between practitioner and client is fundamental to clinical practice. However, confidentiality is not absolute. Confidentiality may be broken if:

• The client discloses information indicating a clear and imminent risk of serious harm or death to themselves or others.
• There is reason to believe a young person (16–17) or an adult at risk is actively suffering severe abuse, exploitation, or neglect.
• Disclosure is required by law or order of a court.

Where safe and appropriate to do so, any intent to escalate or report a concern will be discussed with the client prior to making a referral.

5. Safeguarding Procedure & Escalation Path

If a disclosure is made or abuse/neglect is suspected during a session:

Listen & Document: Listen calmly and without judgment. Make clear, factual, and dated written records.

Assess Immediate Danger: If there is an immediate threat to life or safety, contact Emergency Services (999) straight away.

External Reporting & Support: Adults (18+): Report concerns to the relevant Local Authority Adult Social Care. Young People (16–17): Report concerns to the Local Authority Children’s Services / MASH. Advise/signpost to support helplines.

Professional Consultation: Consult professional body advisory lines (CNHC, BANT, Kinesiology associations) for guidance.
