The word somatic comes from the Greek soma, meaning “the living body.”It refers to an approach that emphasizes body awareness from the inside out — how movement feels, not just how it looks. In short, somatic = embodied awareness.
Bellydance has always been a dialogue between body and feeling. In a somatic approach, we listen deeply to that dialogue — softening the mind’s control so the movement arises from the pulse of the belly, the breath, the organs, and memory held in the body. It’s a return to the inner dancer who moves because they feel, not because they perform.
I’m Minu, a Berlin-based belly dancer and performance artist with a strong focus on somatic movement. Alongside my artistic work, I’m currently studying Body-Mind Centering® , and I’ve been exploring a wide range of somatic workshops and movement education over the past years. My Somatic Bellydance sessions grow directly from these studies blending dance, embodiment, breath, and presence in a gentle, accessible way. I share what I’m learning in an open, community-oriented format, which is why the workshops remain affordable and welcoming to all bodies.
