FlipSide Theatre Collective will be holding auditions for Little Mermaid on February 21, 2026, from 10 am to 6 pm at the Lunchbox Theatre Rehearsal Hall at the Calgary Tower (Level 4, Unit 405, 131 9th Ave SW).

Should you pass the 1st round of auditions, you may be called back for the final round either on February 22nd or the following weekend, February 28th and March 1st. We will be sure to notify you ahead of time.
Please prepare 16–24 bars of a musical theatre song that showcases your vocal range. Bring sheet music. An accompanist will be provided on the day. Kindly make sure to use a highlighter/marker to highlight the section of music you have chosen so it is clear to the accompanist.

About the Show
Little Mermaid is an original Filipino musical adaptation inspired by Hans Christian Andersen’s timeless tale. The story follows Jewel, a spirited young princess of the underwater kingdom of Aquatica, whose encounter with a prince from the world above challenges her understanding of love, freedom, and self-determination.
We are seeking dynamic, expressive performers for the following roles:
PRINCIPAL ROLES
Jewel -
A sharp, curious princess of Aquatica. Strong-willed, independent, and carefree, with a playful streak and a touch of mischief. Vocal range: High soprano with a strong belt. Age range: late teens to early 20s
Christian -
A thoughtful prince driven to reshape his kingdom and explore the unknown. Confident, charming, and free-spirited.
Vocal range: Tenor.
Age range: mid-20s to early 30s
Crustacea -
The formidable sea witch obsessed with seizing control of Aquatica. Commanding, sly, and deeply manipulative, with an overpowering presence.
Vocal range: Soprano with a powerful, rock-style belt.
Age range: 40s to 50s
Sapphire -
A princess longing for a life beyond the palace walls. Firm and decisive, yet warm, sincere, and endearing.
Vocal range: Soprano / Mezzo-soprano.
Age range: 20s to early 30s
Calamari - The kingdom’s head of music. Highly strung and often overtaken by nerves, but deeply caring, compassionate, and humorous.
Vocal range: Baritone.
Age range: 20s to mid-40s
King Argo -
The ruler of Aquatica. A father and king struggling to maintain order while carrying the weight of responsibility. Firm, stubborn, compassionate, and authoritative.
Vocal range: Baritone with a strong upper register.
Age range: 40s to 50s
Ensemble
Mermaids, islanders, spirits of the air, sailors, and fish puppeteers.
Vocal range: All ranges encouraged. Age range: open to all
Please ensure availability on the following dates:
Rehearsals: June 8 - July 17, Monday-Friday, 6-10 pm
Performances: We are doing a minimum of four (4) shows between July 18 to July 26, 2026.
