User Experience Study: The Impact of AI Refusals, Updates, and System Changes

We are conducting a research study to better understand how people experience changes in AI interactions, including content filtering, refusals, abrupt conversational shifts, and AI model updates or removals from public access.

While these mechanisms are commonly implemented to support safety and system integrity, there is limited empirical research examining how users experience such changes during sustained or meaningful engagement with AI systems.

This study explores a range of user-reported experiences, which may include emotional, cognitive, or bodily responses, as well as changes in how interactions are perceived over time. We are interested in understanding both neutral and meaningful experiences, without assuming positive or negative outcomes.

Your participation will help contribute to a clearer understanding of how technical changes in AI systems are experienced by users, informing future research in human–AI interaction and design.
