Scripture Memorization Guide

A message from Pastor Eli: Memorizing Scripture takes time, but that's part of the benefit and goodness of memorization. Work at your own pace and don't be discouraged if you don't make it through the whole passage. Select any of the exercises which best suit your individual learning style.

Scripture memorization is not about pressure, but delight. We want to savor God's word, which is why we are setting aside time to memorize it and meditate upon it. So enjoy the journey, and let your heart delight in what the Lord says!

1. Recite John 15:5 out loud, and try listening to an audio version or recording of yourself.

5. Take a moment to pray or hand write this passage back to the Lord, using your own words or another bible translation such as NLT, MSG, NIRV, ERV, CSB, and EASY.

6. Reflection:
a. In your own words, describe the relationship a vine branch has to the vine. Do you regularly picture your relationship to Christ this way?
b. In what areas of your life are you currently trying to bear fruit on your own, instead of depending on Christ?
c. How does Jesus’ statement, “apart from me you can do nothing,” challenge your view of success, independence, or personal effort?
