Lacrosse NSW Expression of Interest: 2026 East Coast Cup/Battle in the Capital, Coaches and Managers

Lacrosse NSW is pleased to open an expression of interest for coaching the 2026 East Coast Cup in Sydney as well as the preceding "Battle in the Capital" match in Canberra. This is an opportunity to contribute to the continued growth and success of lacrosse in New South Wales. Dates:Battle in the Capital (Canberra) is scheduled to take place on Saturday, September 26th.East Coast Cup (Sydney) is scheduled to take place Saturday, October 17 to Sunday, October 18th. Location: Battle in the Capital: Canberra, Australia • East Coast Cup: Kingsford, Sydney, Australia (UNSW Village Green) About the Roles: • The Coach role will focus on on-field leadership such as player development, game strategy, training, and team performance. Expectations: In addition to attending the Battle in the Capital and East Coast Cup matches the successful candidate will be able to commit to attending scheduled trainings once a week (likely Monday, Wednesday, or Sunday evenings) in Sydney's Inner East or North Sydney from August through to the tournament in October. Preference will be given to applicants who can commit to both the Battle in the Capital and East Coast Cup. • The Manager role is primarily administrative and logistical, overseeing travel, accommodation, uniforms, meals, and coordination of daily schedules. Expectations: In addition to attending the Battle in the Capital and East Coast Cup, the successful candidate will be ability to commit 1-2 hours a week from August onward (increasing to 3 in the leadup to the tournament) for administration and organisation and ability to attend virtual meetings with other organisers for planning purposes. The manager will not be required to attend weekly training sessions (though you're more than welcome to!) Out-of-state applications are encouraged. Preference will be given to applicants who can commit to both the Battle in the Capital and East Coast Cup. Code of Conduct

All successful applicants will be bound by the below Code of Conduct as provided by Lacrosse Australia (LA). If you do not agree with or are unable to accept the below code of conduct please do not accept any offer made to you by Lacrosse NSW.

If you are the successful applicant by accepting the position offered by Lacrosse New South Wales it is understood that you will abide by the Code of Conduct at all times.

Coaches’ Code of Conduct
In addition to LA’s General Code of Conduct, you must meet the following requirements in regard to your conduct during any activity held or sanctioned by LA, an MA or an affiliated club and in your role as a coach appointed by LA, an MA or an affiliated club:
1. Do not tolerate acts of aggression.
2. Provide feedback to players and other participants in a manner sensitive to their needs. Avoid overly negative feedback.
3. Recognise players’ rights to consult with other coaches and advisers. Co-operate fully with other specialists (for example, sports scientists, doctors and physiotherapists).
4. Treat all players fairly within the context of their sporting activities, regardless of gender, race, place of origin, athletic potential, colour, sexual orientation, religion, political beliefs, socio-economic status and other conditions.
5. Encourage and facilitate players’ independence and responsibility for their own behaviour, performance, decisions and actions.
6. Involve the players in decisions that affect them.
7. Encourage players to respect one another and to expect respect for their worth as individuals regardless of their level of play. 8. Ensure that the tasks and/or training set are suitable for age, experience, ability, and physical and psychological conditions of the players.
9. Ensure any physical contact with players is appropriate to the situation andnecessary for the player’s skill development.
10. Be acutely aware of the power that you as a coach develop with your players in the coaching relationship and avoid any sexual intimacy with players that could develop as a result.
11. Avoid situations with your players that could be construed as compromising.
12. Actively discourage the use of performance enhancing drugs, and the use of alcohol, tobacco and illegal substances.
13. Do not exploit any coaching relationship to further personal, political or business interests at the expense of the best interest of your players.
14. Accept and respect the role of officials in ensuring that competitions are conducted fairly and according to established rules.
15. Know and abide by rules, regulations and standards, and encourage players to do likewise. Accept both the letter and the spirit of the rules.
16. Be honest and ensure that qualificationsare not misrepresented. 17. Accept and follow a LA Director’s directive when engaged with any LA team.
