FreeToForget Privacy Policy

Effective date: 21 September 2026
FreeToForget is designed to keep your memories private and under your control. This policy explains what the app stores and when Apple services may handle information.

Information stored on your device

FreeToForget stores the memories you create, including their text, attached photos, dates, settings and any reminder time or place you choose. It may also keep an unfinished draft so you can return to it.
The app does not require an account and does not send your memories to a server run by the developer. FreeToForget does not include advertising, advertising tracking or third-party analytics. Your app data may be included in an Apple or computer backup, depending on your backup settings.

Voice, wording and photos

If you use voice capture, FreeToForget uses Apple’s on-device speech recognition and does not save audio recordings. On supported devices, Apple’s on-device language model may improve the wording of a memory. This text is not sent to an external AI service by FreeToForget.
If you add a photo or use the camera, a copy of that image is stored with your draft or memory. Removing it from FreeToForget does not delete the original from Apple Photos.
Siri and keyboard dictation are separate Apple services and are handled according to your device settings and Apple’s privacy information.

Siri and search

Sharing with Siri and Spotlight is off by default. If you turn it on, memory text you allow to be shared can be made available to Apple’s system search and Siri features. You can exclude individual memories or turn sharing off in FreeToForget’s settings.

Reminders, location and maps

FreeToForget can create optional local notifications for a time or place you choose. Arrival reminders require location permission so iOS can detect when you reach the selected area. The app does not keep a history of your movements or continuously record your location.
Place searches use Apple Maps and send Apple the place query you enter. FreeToForget does not automatically send your memory text as a place query. Apple handles Maps information under Apple Maps and Privacy.

Your choices and deletion

Microphone, speech recognition, camera, photos, notifications, location and Siri sharing are optional. You can change these permissions in your iPhone’s Settings.
Memories remain in FreeToForget until you delete them. Deleting a memory removes its content from the app and removes its associated reminder and search entry. Deleting the app removes its local data, although copies may remain in device backups or Apple services that you control separately. Because memories are stored on your device, the developer cannot remotely access, recover or delete them.
