Find a beautifully designed café or an inspiring little shop.

Wander through the historic centre and uncover its stories.

Head to a local market and discover what everyone is eating.

Leave the itinerary behind and see where the day takes me.

Browsing a design gallery or a beautiful bookshop.

Inside a museum or a church I've wanted to see for years.

On a bench by the water, watching the light change.

A book or a print about the place's history.

Olive oil, spices or a bottle from a small producer.

Nothing much — a postcard, a pebble, a memory.

A boutique hotel where every detail has been designed.

A historic building with stories in its walls.

A hotel or estate famous for its kitchen and wine.

A small guesthouse where the owner knows my name.

Spaces that inspire me long after I've left.

Understanding how a place became what it is.

The flavours, scents and sounds I can still recall.

I save places from design guides and Instagram.

I book the first night and see what happens.

A village in the Alentejo, with no plans.
