Dear past me

If you could sit beside yourself during a season of motherhood that you found hard, what would you want her to know now?

Write a letter to the woman you once were. Share the perspective you couldn't see yet, the kindness you wish someone had offered, or reassurance that she was going to be okay.

You don’t need to know how to write the letter, we’ll help you find the words.

The questions below will gently guide you through the moment you’re looking back on, what you know now, and what you wish you could tell the mother you were.

Share as much or as little as feels right. Your responses can be published anonymously, and nothing will be shared without being reviewed first.

What is your name?

What is your email address?

Which version of yourself are you writing to?

Take us back to that season. How old was your child/children, and what was happening in your life at the time?

What felt hardest at the time?

What were you struggling with, worrying about, or carrying that other people might not have seen?

What did you believe or tell yourself during that season?

Were there things you were afraid of, blaming yourself for, comparing yourself over, or convinced you should be doing differently?

Looking back now, what can you see that you couldn't see then?

What do you understand differently about yourself, your child, motherhood, or that season now that you've lived beyond it?

If you could sit beside that version of yourself for five minutes, what would you tell her?

What does she most need to hear from you?

Is there anything you wish you had worried about less, held onto more tightly, or allowed yourself to do differently?

How would you like us to share your story?
