$500 Denver Community Bike Bus Micro-grants

Brown Bike Bus has partnered with a generous donor to offer up to four $500 micro-grants to help start and support more bike buses for public schools in Denver.

Use the grant to cover your expenses for things like:

🛑 stop signs to help you hold traffic at cross walks
🦺 high viz vests for volunteers and parents
🍦 traffic cones to help folks line up at the start of your ride
🥪 sandwich boards or flyers to promote the bike bus on the playground
💪 arm bands for bike bus “captains” who complete training and lead by example 🍕 volunteer appreciation pizza party 🛠️ tuneups and tire pressure checks on the playground from a local bike shop

We’ve done all these things to help grow our bike bus and keep things safe and organized, and we'd love to hear your ideas for other uses for the funds as well. Our micro-grant can cover any reasonable expense that helps you run, support, promote, or celebrate your bike bus and get more kids riding to your school.

Availability and requirements

Grant applications are open through to June 30, 2026 and will be reviewed promptly in the order they are received. We’ll consider one grant per bike bus / school, and up to 4 grants this cycle. Denver public schools only.

If you or your school/PTA previously received a grant from Brown Bike Bus, you are not eligible for this cycle.

About the grants

The funds will be granted in the form of a gift card.

While working on your bike bus, or after you’ve spent your funds, we would like to hear about how it went! Please stay connected with us — send photos and if you know how many people participated or were impacted by the funds, please share that info with us.

Grants are offered to any individuals or organizations to be used in support of bike buses affiliated with a Denver public school.
