Founding Ecologist

Hiya đź‘‹,
and thanks for your interest in working with us. We're mission driven - looking for someone with the right values, abilities and motivation to help us fill the pollinator data gap and reverse pollinator declines.
Sensibee is autonomous biodiversity intelligence: set-and-forget, AI-powered monitoring with photo-backed insight into which insects are present and how they're doing. Track biodiversity trends and make better land-management decisions, from nature restoration to agronomy.
We have great technology, a superb team, wonderful customers, and now need some help to grow and do things even better.

Sensibee is hiring a Founding Ecologist — someone curious, adaptable, and eager to contribute across many different areas. You understand why biodiversity matters, and how better insect data can lead to better decisions for humanity.

You’ll help with things like

• Understanding what existing and potential customers need, and helping them make the most of Sensibee.

• Help us understand our best growth and partnership pathways.

• Reaching out to a range of stakeholders and potential customers.

• Anything from testing hardware to thinking about data visualisation, to representing us at trade shows/conferences.

• Improving how we communicate online, and promote visibility and understanding of insects and biodiversity.

• Turning insect data into insight customers and partners can act on.

• Thinking about how we can improve our internal efficiency.

The job is ideal for someone who is:

• A curious generalist who learns quickly and enjoys varied challenges. We love people with diverse backgrounds.
• Excited to join a growing startup that is enabling a new era of insect-monitoring.
• Likes to have fun, and has the drive to make the world a better place.
• Able to take initiative and also to work as part of a team.
• Is happy to experiment with new tools (including AI-based processes).
We don't have fixed minimum qualifications. Maybe you're a CIEEM member or have a biodiversity-related BSc or PhD; maybe you're an finance person or operator with deep environmental sensitivity. We care far more about passion, clear thinking, and the ability to get things done than about degrees.

Constraints

• We're remote-first. We're happy for you to be anywhere in the UK but we'll need you to be flexible to travel to see customers or attend meetings/tradeshows occasionally. If you're full-time and in London or Manchester, we'll co-work in person at least once a week.

• You must already have the right to work in the UK (we are unable to sponsor visas).

Benefits include

• Salary of £20,000 to £32,000 per year, via PAYE, with pension + NI contributions. Pro rata if less than full-time.

• Pathway towards owning part of the business via EMI share options.

• Opportunity for big real-world impact.

• Flexible working: Can do part time (minimum 2 days/week, e.g. if you're a student, retired or have significant caring obligations) to full-time.

You’ll be joining a small team, so your work will have big impact.
