We're opening up our spaces for artists, groups and organisations to develop and realise projects with us, whether that's a workshop, exhibition or residency, run as a collaborative process with the East Street Arts team. You don't need to have worked with us before, and your idea can be at any stage. This isn't a paid opportunity: our contribution is the use of space and, where we can, practical support like installation, project development, documentation or design.
Proposals are reviewed by the ESA team roughly every two months, mainly on whether we have a space and the support available to make it work, and how it fits alongside everything else happening at the time. This is for time-limited projects rather than ongoing space use. Our spaces are generally accessible, including accessible toilets and lifts; what's suitable can depend on what you're proposing, so let us know about anything specific.
You're welcome to answer in writing, by voice note, by video, or as a conversation instead. Please send these to Wes, at
hello@esamail.org.uk.
Outline your proposal, what you might do, and who it is for (i.e. who might come to a workshop or exhibition).
You may not have a specific date in mind (but please flag this clearly if you do), but think about how long you might need a space, if it is on multiple occasions, and how long for on each occasion.
Think about spaces in Patrick Studios & Convention House and where this might be best placed. If you don't know the buildings, or aren't sure what's available, just say so. We're happy to show you around or talk it through before you apply.
Tell us what you're doing, or plan to do, to make this happen. For example: is this part of a larger project or your ongoing practice? Will you be applying for funding? Who else might be supporting you? Have you managed or delivered similar projects or events before?
Our spaces generally have accessible toilets and lifts, but what works can depend on the activity itself. Let us know if there's anything specific to consider for the space, or for filling in this form.
