I’m researching the condition of tactile ground surface indicators (TGSIs) at Melbourne metropolitan railway stations for an article on my Substack @HighCapacityHayden about accessibility on Melbourne’s train network.
TGSIs are the raised tactile surfaces found along platform edges and around other hazards. They provide important orientation and warning information for people who are blind or have low vision.
I’m looking for recent photographs from all Melbourne metropolitan stations - including stations where the TGSIs appear to be in good condition.
The aim is to build a broad snapshot of the condition of this infrastructure across the network and compare what is physically present at stations with the accessibility information published by Metro Trains Melbourne.
This is not a formal accessibility or engineering compliance audit. Photographs will be assessed using a consistent observational methodology.
