BookStack Volunteer Form
Over the course of running BookStack, between the blog and the directory, I have stumbled across many hurdles. Mainly, it is impossible for me alone to do the following:
1) Maintain a consistent presence on social media and our blog
2) Regulate the directory to keep harmful content from getting in
Note: We no longer need volunteers for the directory, though that may change in the future. WE do however, still need volunteers for the blog and social media.
Previously, I have tried opening BookStack to volunteer opportunities a couple times, but never really got back to anyone. Now more than ever though, it's become clear this is necessary. So, if you'd like to help support our mission and be a part of BookStack, here's a few things acknowledge before continuuing onto the rest of the application.
BookStack does not condone the usage or support of Generative-AI in imagery, writing, or any other creative mediums. By agreeing to this policy, you acknowledge that if any Gen-AI is found within your portfolio, blog, etc... your application will not be accepted, and we may not work with you in the future. Press "I Agree" if you acknowledge and accept this policy.
2. Discrimination Policy:
*
We also do not condone discriminatory content or behavior of any kind, including but not limited to racist, bigoted, sexist, homophobic, and transphobic intent. By agreeing to this policy, you agree to uphold this standard, and that your own content and behaviors online follows this standard. And that if evidence of discriminatory content or behavior is found, your application will be rejected, and we may not work with you in the future. Press "I Agree" if you acknowledge and accept this policy.
3. Volunteering Acknowledgement:
*
By hitting "I Agree" below and moving onto the rest of the form, you acknowledge and agree to follow these conditions:
1) As this is a volunteer position, there is no payment for the work you do for us, as I can't currently afford to pay anyone. However, a book of your choice will be featured in our Volunteer Books section.
2) This opportunity is flexible, which means if you need to stop volunteering for us, you can leave at any time. But a heads up is appreciated depending on the work you're doing. It also means there are no strict hours for getting things done. You do as much as you're willing or are able to.
3) Consistent communication is necessary to keep things functioning within the blog, social media, and directory. While it isn't required, there will be a question asking if you'd like to be in a discord chat for this purpose.
For communication purposes.
If your volunteer application is accepted, would you like to be added into a chat on discord to use for communication?
Please link us to your socials or website. This will only be used to check that you do align with our policies.
Which areas of BookStack would you like to volunteer to help with?
Optional: Previous Volunteer Experiences.
Have you had any previous experience volunteering for a bookish account like this one, or perhaps through your local library? Let us know below, we'd love to hear about it.
Optional: Questions and Feedback.
Lastly, do you have any questions or feedback about this opportunity for me to answer or consider? Please let me know, and I'll do my best to give good answers in response.
