Application | Scholarship for Fellows

Puerto Rico is facing an unprecedented healthcare crisis: the massive migration of physicians, the potential closure of residency programs, and unequal access to services, particularly in rural areas. Our current landscape is defined by a pronounced imbalance between the supply and demand of medical care, putting the health of thousands of families at risk. This reality demands immediate and sustainable solutions.
The Scholarship Program of the Fundación para el Futuro de la Salud emerges as a strategic response to promote the development of professionals committed to public health, prioritizing service in critical and rural areas. Each scholarship, investment, or collaboration represents more than financial support—it symbolizes hope for a stronger and more equitable healthcare system, and the assurance that together we will continue strengthening the diversity and quality of the professionals who sustain it.
The Scholarship for Fellows will be awarded to a maximum of three (3) individuals enrolled in an established and accredited program the following subspecialties: Cardiology, Endocrinology, Gastroenterology, Nephrology, Rheumatology, Hematology/Oncology, Trauma and Burn Surgery, and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, among others. This merit-based scholarship recognizes Fellows who demonstrate a strong commitment to social responsibility and service through their participation in academic organizations, nonprofit institutions, or other entities that provide direct services to vulnerable populations. Through this initiative, the Foundation seeks to strengthen the diversity, excellence, and long-term sustainability of the healthcare professionals who support our health system.
