Redesigning Work for the Next Generation

Performative (Looks good on paper, feels empty in reality)

Transactional (I do X, they pay me Y, that's it)

Supportive (People actually look out for each other)

Chaotic (No one knows what’s going on...ever)

Exclusive (Cliquey, hard to break into the inner circle)

I feel like a human who happens to work here.

I feel like a resource that is being utilized.

I feel like a child who needs permission for everything.

I feel like a ghost (no one notices if I’m there or not.

I feel like a meaningful and supported member of my team/company.

A feedback loop where junior workers' ideas are actually tested.

Dedicated, paid work time (not after-hours) for upskilling and cross-training.

A standard system that actually prepares you for the next role, not just more tasks.

The ability to genuinely log off without guilt (no after-hours contact).

Being judged on output/results, not on hours spent in a seat.

Full transparency on what everyone makes, and public bands for every role.

Radical Transparency: Every salary, every promotion criteria, and every strategic decision is public to all employees.

Outcome-Based Work: You are judged only on what you produce, never on when, where, or how many hours you sit in a seat.

Mandatory Disconnect: After 6 PM and on weekends, the company literally shuts down. No emails, no pings, no expectations.

Rotating Leadership: Everyone, including the CEO, must spend 1 week per quarter doing the most junior role to stay grounded.

Democracy at Work: Major company decisions go to a team vote, not just executive whim.

Mental Health Infrastructure: On-site therapists, mental health days (not counted as sick days), mandatory no-meeting days/times, mental health education, etc.

Physical Space Redesign: Quiet pods for deep work, office redesigns, multifunctional rooms to support wellbeing, ergonomic everything, etc.

Time Affluence: A 4-day work week (32 hours) with zero pay cut. Full stop.

A Full-life Center: Having things like financial planning education, parenting groups, early career support resources/consultants, etc. that support areas outside of work that you typically figure out on your own/as you go.

Community & Connection: Interest-based clubs, mentorship circles, off-site retreats that people actually want to attend, etc.
