Job searching can get frustrating fast, especially when you are putting applications out there and hearing very little back.
If you are wondering whether your resume might be part of the problem, send me a redacted copy and I will take a look.
I will point out a few things that stand out to me and where I think you could make it stronger.
It is completely free.
You may be wondering why a job page wants to see your resume. Fair question.
AlbertaJobDrop is an independent community job resource. I am not a recruiter, I am not hiring for these companies, and you never have to pay to access the jobs I share.
I also do not need your personal information to review your resume, so I actually want you to remove it before uploading.
Think of this like asking for resume feedback on Reddit, just a little more organized.
For your privacy, please upload a redacted version of your resume. Remove or cover:
• Full name
• Phone number
• Personal email
• Home address
• LinkedIn or portfolio links that identify you
• References or other people's contact information
You can also replace identifying details with placeholders if you prefer.
Example: John Smith - Your Name
You do NOT need to remove information that helps with the review:
• Job titles
• Employment dates
• Degree or program
• Skills
• Certifications
• Accomplishment bullets
• General industry
• General city or province if relevant
The less unnecessary personal information you have to share, the better.
