Overview
At VeYou, we’re building the next-generation entertainment platform for premium short-form and micro series — a destination for bold, addictive storytelling designed for the vertical screen, and a web novels platform. Our founder is an Executive Producer behind some of Hollywood's highest-grossing action and sci-fi films of the last decade.
As a consultant, you will play a key role in defining the technical architecture and future engineering culture of VeYou. You will work alongside our partner engineering agency as well as the CEO and our consulting Product Manager. You must be a strong architect with deep full-stack experience and the ability to bridge the gap between product vision and engineering execution.
Key Responsibilities
Architect the Platform: Design and own the end-to-end system architecture across the stack. You will define robust domain models for our content ecosystem (think shows, episodes, metadata), architect the mobile client strategy for iOS and Android, and design the CMS/admin internal tools that empower our editors, ensuring the platform scales from launch to millions of users.
System Integration: Integrate key third-party services including video infra, auth, analytics, crash reporting, monitoring, etc.
Product Alignment: Partner closely with our consulting Product Manager. While they handle the roadmap and user stories, you will assess technical feasibility and determine the best implementation path.
Hands-on Execution: Build the critical infrastructure, from core recommendation algorithms to complex content ingestion pipelines working alongside our dev agency.
Data Strategy: Leverage MongoDB expertise to design schema-less data structures that support complex content hierarchies (Series/Season/Episode) and high-volume analytics.
Cross-Team Collaboration: Translate business goals into technical requirements and serve as the primary technical voice for the company.
Ideal Background
- 6+ years of experience in full-stack software engineering with a strong grasp of system architecture.
- Experience designing and shipping consumer-facing apps end-to-end (ideally streaming, content, media)
- Strong cloud infrastructure experience and data architecture and modern backends (Node.js, Python, or Go).
- Experience working in early-stage startups (bonus if you were a founding hire). You must be able to navigate ambiguity and balance speed with stability.
- Strong communicator with the ability to translate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders; must be fully capable of working independently and results-driven.
- Exposure to personalization/recommendation systems (or at least rules-based discovery)
