You are using multiple limbs on one of their limbs/neck to attack. Leverage and isolation
For a joint lock, you must control the joint above and below to break the joint
for a choke, you have to cut off both carotid arteries, not the throat
Position before submission
Chokes aren't instant, need to hold steady and wait
Catch and release. Once you have the right mechacnics and control, you should know if you have the submission. Let go once you know this, not when they tap
Control is best approach. Don't rush to get the submission. Learn to technically negate all their resistance
