Super Level Z Retro Gaming Repair & Restoration Form

Super Level Z is a retro gaming hobby and content creation project focused on preserving and enjoying older gaming hardware.

My goal is to help keep classic gaming systems alive through cleaning, restoration, preventative maintenance, repairs, and occasional modifications while sharing the process with the community.

I am a self-taught DIY cleaning and repair hobbyist, not a professional electronics repair shop or certified technician. I primarily work on older gaming hardware that I personally enjoy collecting and using.

Pay what you can service

Super Level Z operates primarily as a hobby and community project rather than a traditional repair business.

Because of this, labor costs are offered on a pay-what-you-can basis. If you're able to contribute toward the time spent on your project, it is greatly appreciated and helps support future repairs and content creation.

If finances are tight, don't let that stop you from reaching out. My goal is to help keep retro gaming hardware alive and in the hands of players and collectors. There are two exceptions for this. The first is for moderate, advanced, or microsoldering repairs, a flat $50 labor fee applies only if the repair is successful. An example would be recapping an optical drive to fix disc reading issues. A CMOS battery replacement is quick and mild, so it wouldn't apply to this! The second is modding. Depending on the mod, there may be a fee based on difficulty. Currently I don't do a lot of mods, but feel free to contact me so we can talk about it.

Before You Submit

Required Costs: - $10 upfront submission fee (required to submit this form, helps prevent fraudulent and non-serious submissions, and helps me pay for my business address, this isn't for profit) - Return shipping (pre-paid label should be included with your shipment) - Parts and materials required for repairs or mods (typically charged at cost or very close to cost)

If you are a Patreon Elite or Legend member, you do not have to pay the $10 fee. Message me on Discord! If you plan to use the pay-what-you-can option or would like to leave an optional tip for labor, please let me know before I prepare the final invoice for parts and materials.

How the Process Works

1. Submit the form + $10 submission fee 2. Ship your item with required accessories + return label 3. I inspect and diagnose the issue 4. I contact you by email, text, or Discord with any findings, recommended repairs, and expected parts/material costs 5. You approve the work before I proceed 6. Repair/mod is completed and tested 7. Final invoice is sent 8. Once payment is complete, your item is shipped back

I primarily work on retro and older gaming hardware, generally focusing on consoles from the Wii U, Xbox 360, PS2, and Dreamcast generations and older.

Please note that I haven't worked on every system listed below, but that doesn't mean I can't clean, restore, or potentially repair them! Half the fun of retro gaming is learning about and preserving these awesome old systems.

Payment Policy

Payment is due after repair completion and before return shipment.

Invoices must be paid within 30 days of delivery.

If payment is not received within 30 days and there is no communication, the item will be considered abandoned and may be retained or repurposed to recover labor, time, and material costs.

Please do not send items unless you are prepared to complete payment.

Shipping Requirements

Please package your item safely and securely.

Include:

- Console/device - Controllers if possessed (for testing) - Necessary power/video cables if possessed (for testing) - Prepaid return shipping label (important so you're not overcharged for shipping later) - Printed or cleanly written contact information and order details

Improper packaging that causes damage during shipping is the sender’s responsibility.

Limitation of Liability: Super Level Z is not liable for any direct or indirect damages, including data loss, hardware failure, or issues occurring during or after repair.

Customer Responsibility: You are responsible for backing up data and ensuring items are in acceptable condition before shipment.

Hold Harmless: You agree to hold harmless Super Level Z and its affiliates from any claims or damages resulting from use of services.

Governing Law: These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida.

Dispute Resolution: Any disputes shall be resolved through binding arbitration in Florida, not court proceedings.

Because Super Level Z is a hobby project, I reserve the right to decline repairs or modifications that fall outside my interests, experience level, available tools, or available time. If your console and requested service fall within the systems and services listed above, your project will generally be accepted. However, I reserve the right to decline projects based on complexity, available time, parts availability, or other circumstances.

By submitting this form, you confirm:

Please include all necessary cables with your console. If cables are missing but I have compatible ones available, I will use my own. If I do not have the required cables, I will contact you with the replacement cost.

If you are sending multiple consoles, please add a sticky note or some form of identification to each so I know which console has which issue. Include at least one controller for testing purposes.

If you do not provide a controller and refuse to pay for a replacement for testing, I cannot be held responsible for any issues related to incomplete testing after cleaning and repairs. If I have a controller, I'll use my own.

Please include a picture of everything you are sending, if possible.
