Dealing with existing structural documentation in renovation or extension projects

Hypothesis: When dealing with renovation projects, reuse or modification projects within existing structures, lots of engineering time is spent on analyzing-work of existing documentation. This is seen as one of the biggest pain points within existing building projects. This survey aims to quantify the time spent and biggest pain points for structural engineers dealing with existing documentation in Denmark.

Reading the archive: how structural engineers assess existing structures

This survey is part of a master's thesis at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU Construct). It is about one specific part of your work: reading the archive material for an existing building - old drawings, hand-written calculations, building-case files, before you can say anything about the structure.

It takes about 10 minutes. There are no right (or wrong) answers. I am mapping how the work is done today and am not testing anyone.

Your answers are anonymous. No name, e-mail, employer or IP address is collected. Results are reported in aggregate; free-text answers may be quoted verbatim but never attributed. Participation is voluntary and you can close the survey at any point without your answers being kept.
