American Legion Department of Michigan New Attendee Orientation

Attending a conference or convention for the first time can feel overwhelming, but you do not have to figure it out alone. New Attendee Orientation is designed to help first-time attendees feel more confident, prepared, and connected before the event begins.

During this orientation, participants will get a clear overview of what to expect, how to navigate the event, where to find key resources, and how to make the most of their time. Whether you are wondering where to go, what sessions to attend, or how to get involved, this orientation will help you get the lay of the land and feel more comfortable from the start.

What to expect:

Participants will be invited to a Zoom orientation one week prior to the event where we will walk through what to expect, how to navigate the schedule, meeting etiquette, dress code, professional decorum, and how to decide which meetings or sessions may be the best fit for their goals.

Once onsite, participants will have a first gathering/welcome meeting to get oriented, meet key contacts, and ask initial questions. Throughout the conference or convention, they will also access to a dedicated office hours table where they can stop by, ask questions, get directions, and receive guidance as they navigate the event.
