Career Unfiltered Privacy Policy
Effective 30 October 2026
This policy explains how Career Unfiltered collects, uses and protects your personal data when you register for or attend our event, in line with the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 (the Act).
Career Unfiltered is a career event organised by the Niger Delta School Summit team in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Nigeria. We are the data controller for the information you give us.
Email: coordinator@nigerdeltaschoolsummit.com
Only what you enter on our registration form: your name, email address, WhatsApp number, how you will attend, whether you are a student or professional, your school or workplace, your course or job role, your career interests, your age group, any question you submit for the leaders, and how you heard about us. We do not collect sensitive personal data such as health, religious or financial information.
3. Why we use it and our legal basis
We process your data on the basis of your consent (section 25(1)(a) of the Act), to:
• manage your registration and check you in on the day
• send you event updates and, if you attend online, the livestream link
• choose questions for the panels
• understand our audience and improve future events
We will only send you news about future events if you tick the separate, optional box on the form.
Your data is seen only by the Career Unfiltered organising team. We use trusted online services to run registration and email (for example, our form platform), which process data on our behalf and are bound to protect it. We never sell your data or share it with any third party for their own marketing.
5. Data stored outside Nigeria
Some of the online services we use store data on servers outside Nigeria. Those countries may not offer the same level of protection as Nigerian law. We only use reputable providers with strong security, and we ask for your consent to this transfer on the registration form (section 43(1)(a) of the Act).
We keep your registration data for up to 12 months after the event, then delete it. If you opted in to hear about future events, we keep your name and contact details for that purpose until you unsubscribe.
Access is limited to the organising team, stored in password-protected accounts. We do not print or share registration lists beyond what is needed to run the event. If a data breach occurs that puts your rights at risk, we will notify you and the Nigeria Data Protection Commission as the Act requires.
Under the Act, you have the right to:
• ask whether we hold your data and get a copy of it
• correct data that is wrong or incomplete
• ask us to delete your data
• object to or restrict how we use it
• withdraw your consent at any time, as easily as you gave it
• opt out of future event messages at any time
Withdrawing consent does not affect anything we did before you withdrew. To use any of these rights, email coordinator@nigerdeltaschoolsummit.com. We do not make decisions about you by automated means alone.
If you are under 18, you may register only with the consent of your parent or guardian (section 31 of the Act). We may ask to confirm this before the event.
10. Photos, video and livestream
The event will be photographed, recorded and livestreamed, and content may be shared on our pages. If you would rather not be photographed, tell our team at check-in and we will do our best to keep you out of shots.
If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, please contact us first. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC).
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. Any changes will appear on this page with a new effective date.
