BIPOC stands for Black, Indigenous, and People of Color. These scholarships are specifically for folks who identify within these communities.
These scholarships exist because BIPOC communities face systemic barriers to accessing healing resources while simultaneously carrying disproportionate grief and trauma. We prioritize those bringing this work back to their communities, but we also consider all applications as we recognize the burden carried by BIPOC folks when participating in mixed race groups.
The following questions help us understand financial need. We recognize these are personal questions and appreciate your trust in sharing this information.
Any other major expenses besides the usual basic needs (food, car, etc.) that aren't optional and impact you/your family specifically? (such as high medical expenses due to a health issue, special support needs for disability, student loan debt, supporting family members, etc.)
By submitting this application, I acknowledge that 1) The information I've provided is accurate and truthful, 2) BIPOC scholarships are limited and not everyone who applies will receive one, & 3) Dark Woods of Grief will review applications with care and contact me about next steps.
Thank you for taking the time to share your story with us. We honour the trust you've placed in us and will be in touch within 1-3 business days about your application.
