I know who I am and I use this as my springboard for creating artwork. Inspiration is a myth -ideas don’t come to me, I go out and find them!

I find inspiration in the world around me, landscapes, still lives and portraits are uncomplicated and beautiful. I don’t see why inspiration needs to be complex.

I think I sometimes get flashes of inspiration but other times I have creative block. Even though inspiration is unreliable, I do want to express myself. I’m just often unsure what that means or how to access the creative muse.

I believe that art has to directly connect to the human experience, to evoke an emotion from the viewer. Art to me is a form of social critique.

I believe art is anything that is technically excellent and visually beautiful but doesn’t need to be complicated with philosophical depth.

I thrive in structure where I follow a curriculum with specific tasks, deadlines and clear assessments because it takes the responsibility off me for accountability and direction.

I like a capable instructor to provide direction but I prefer to work independently after that.

Other students’ feedback help me to refine my ideas, I am always learning from observing other people’s works this input is helpful to the formulation of my own ideas.

I am here to work so I don’t really pay attention to others around me. I know I need to hear and receive feedback from my instructor for my own growth but I don’t really need peers for my optimal performance.

I have savings, support from my parents or I can secure funding to pay for full-time study.

I am distracted by the amazing things other people produce. Self-comparison is hard for me because I abandon my own ideas and I feel that I am being pulled in too many directions at once.

I love seeing what others are up to but I that doesn’t translate to or affect my direction, since we are all on different paths and I’m only ever competing against myself.

I’m not sure but I will figure it out as and when I cross that bridge.
