A national insurance carrier is hiring Casualty Claims Examiners for its Middle Market Casualty team. You'll handle high-severity, complex general liability claims and the excess and umbrella policies that sit above them, in jurisdictions across the U.S.

Compensation
Senior Claims Examiner
- NYC: up to $191,600
- Morristown, Philadelphia, Long Island, Alpharetta: up to $172,500
- $5K sign-on bonus eligible
Mid-Level Claims Examiner
- All locations: up to $124,000
What you'll do
- Identify coverage issues, draft reservation of rights and declination letters, and work with coverage counsel
- Investigate claims and review pleadings, depositions and expert reports
- Analyze and direct risk transfer, additional insured and contractual indemnity issues
- Set reserves and present written and oral reports to senior leadership for reserve and settlement authority
- Select and direct defense counsel and build resolution strategies
- Negotiate settlements and attend mediations and trials across the U.S.
- Work with insureds, brokers, underwriters and program managers
What we're looking for
- Strong commercial general liability claims experience (GL ahead of PL, ML or EPL)
- High-level communicator comfortable presenting to senior leadership
- Experience with summons, litigation, trials and risk transfer
- Strong coverage knowledge
- Adjuster license in at least 2 of: CA, TX, FL, NY, and willing to get NY if you don't have it
- Guidewire experience is a plus
