Part-time freelance contract · Remote (US) · 15–20 hrs/week · ~Nov 2 – Dec 31, 2026 · $50–65/hr, depending on experience
Smalls makes human-grade fresh cat food, and our social is run like a cat with a dark sense of humor and a very good Wi-Fi connection. We're looking for a freelance social sidekick to help our Manager, Social & Community keep the machine running through the busiest stretch of our year: a major retail launch, holiday, and a December creator wave.
This is a hands-on role for someone who is very online, has great taste, and actually likes the unglamorous parts of social too.
• Schedule and publish posts across Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, Threads and LinkedIn
• Community management: comments, DMs, and engaging as the brand in the wild
• Spot trends early and turn them into on-brand memes, reactive posts and ideas, fast
• Support creator partnerships: outreach, tracking, shipping product, and inbox follow-ups
• Pull weekly social reporting and flag what's working
• Keep our content calendar and Notion tidy so nothing falls through the cracks
• Have 1–3+ years running social for a brand, agency or creator (portfolio over pedigree)
• Are chronically online in the useful way: you know the trending audio before it peaks
• Can make a meme in a pinch (Figma, Canva, CapCut, Photoshop, whatever gets it done)
• Write captions that sound like a person, not AI
• Are organized, reliable and fast. You close loops without being chased.
• Can wear a lot of hats in a single afternoon and enjoy it
• Bonus: you have a cat, or strong opinions about cats
• Fully remote, with flexible hours and some real-time availability for reactive moments
• Contract runs ~Nov 2 – Dec 31, with potential to extend
• You'll report to Grace, Manager, Social & Community
