The PRISM National Fellowship, a collaboration between Project EduAccess, the National Centre for Biological Sciences (NCBS) and the Indian Society of Developmental Biologists (InSDB), is a 2-month immersive fully-funded research programme designed to nurture the next generation of life science researchers from underrepresented and marginalised backgrounds in India.
The Fellowship offers structured lab placements in leading research institutions across India, equipping Fellows with skills, knowledge, and networking opportunities essential for academic and professional success in STEM fields. Fellows will receive:
✅ Hands-on Research Experience: Work on cutting-edge research projects in developmental biology, genetics and bioinformatics.
✅ Mentorship, Networking and Exposure: Receive guidance from and engage with leading scientists and faculty.
✅ Academic Skill Development: Participate in structured training sessions on academic and research skills.
✅ Financial Support: A stipend for living expenses.
Please note that the PRISM National Fellowship is distinct from our PRISM Fellowship hosted at NCBS. Applications for the latter will be invited separately.
Applications close at 11.59pm IST on Sunday, 15 March 2026. Shortlisted candidates will be invited for virtual interviews in the third and fourth weeks of March 2026. The Fellowship will begin on Friday, 1 May 2026.
Please apply for the PRISM National Fellowship by filling this Application Form only if you meet the eligibility criteria below. You are eligible to apply if:
(i) you are currently pursuing a master's degree or are currently in the final year of a 4-year bachelor's degree in any science subject.
(ii) you are disadvantaged due to social position, economic barriers, geography, or similar factors, and
(iii) you are passionate about life sciences, particularly developmental biology, genetics and bioinformatics.
We strongly encourage applications from students from underrepresented and marginalised communities in STEM, particularly SC, ST, OBC, PwD, religious minorities, women and gender minorities and Northeast India communities.
