Analyst / Economist Roles – September 2026

Job Title: Analyst / Economist

Salary: £40-55k p.a. (depending on experience, with discretionary bonus)

About Us

Mode Economics was founded in 2025 to support clients in taking more and better targeted action to adapt to climate change risk. We combine tools from economics and strategy consulting to help clients make the case for proactive adaptation and move towards implementation. We work with clients across health, cities, water, agriculture, infrastructure, and more. Our team combines the best of the consultancy models we’ve practised at Vivid Economics and McKinsey & Company.

The success we bring to our clients reflects a strong partnership culture, deep analytical expertise, and close cooperation with a large network of contacts. The foundations of our business are our values and mission-driven approach, world-class skills, and our commitment to developing and maintaining cutting-edge techniques. These are housed in an independent, highly-motivated, entrepreneurial, employee-owned business, based in London.

We work with private, public and non-profit clients, spanning sectors including health, finance, utilities and agriculture.

Examples of our work include:

- Programme of work with 30 global cities to build the case for preventative approaches to health-related climate risks and develop tools to support action. See this public report.
- Work with two NGOs to define scalable blended finance models for adaptation finance, focusing on public health challenges related to heat and flooding.
- Work for Ministries of Finance across the Pacific region to understand the effects of climate risk on fiscal stability and sustainability, and to take appropriate management actions.

See our LinkedIn page for more updates.

Mode Economics is committed to diversity and inclusion and welcomes all applicants regardless of age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sex or sexual orientation.

Role Summary

As a graduate at Mode you will work on client-facing projects from day 1. Your work will involve a mixture of quantitative investigation, including building quantitative models and tools and econometric analyses, and qualitative narrative development, including literature syntheses and policy analysis. Our graduates will have different strength areas but we expect all new joiners to work towards building a rounded profile, being as comfortable presenting to clients as doing quantitative work. As you gain experience you will rapidly become responsible for structuring problems, identifying solutions, and delivering work products. A ‘typical’ Mode project lasts for around three months, with short projects lasting around a month and longer ones up to a year. Analysts will work on a number of different projects in their first year, gaining experience working with different team members, on different topics, and learning a broad range of different skills. You will receive close mentorship from a senior team member who will encourage and guide you to develop your career. As Mode is a small firm, we pay special attention to ‘on the job’ training, which is supported by regular development reviews.

We are seeking talented graduates to join our rapidly growing team as analysts (~0-2 years experience) or economists (~2-4 years experience). Successful applicants will have excellent capabilities in economic reasoning and modelling, typically demonstrated by a post-graduate degree in economics or a related discipline, and show strong personal initiative. Previous work experience in consulting is advantageous but not necessary.

Location – The role is based in our new office in London (UK), where you would be expected to work from the office at least 3 days per week

Visa sponsorship – We will sponsor work visas for non-UK citizens

Preferred start date – Starting September-October 2026 for graduates, but earlier start dates are available

Salary – £40-55k p.a., depending on experience (with discretionary bonus)
