2026 Artist Publishing Practicum

From May 2nd-3rd, at Louis Place will host the second Artist Publishing Practicum. We'll provide you with an essential crash course on pathways to book publishing designed for artists (but of course, open to all). The weekend features open-to-the-public workshops led by author-artists, editors, designers, and publishers who are ready to demystify the publishing process for you.
Guests from the previous year included: Kameelah Janan Rasheed, Rachel Valinsky (Wendy’s Subway), Karen Kelly (Dancing Foxes Press), Erika Stevens (Salky Literary Management), Mindy Seu, Elizabeth Karp-Evans (Pacific Editions), and Yusuf Hassan (Black Mass Publishing). Read more about the 2025 Practicum here.

Where: Virtual! at Louis Place is a virtual community prioritizing writers who are parents, caregivers, disabled writers and writers with chronic illness, rural writers, and others whose access to in-person creative communities is limited.

When: May 2-3, 2026. Sessions will be typically held between 1-5:30pm EST.

Cost: Sliding scale fee and the option for fee waivers or mutual aid support.
