Our Nearer to Nature Guided Walk is a simple, self-led way to tell us about your experience of your local greenspace.
You can do the walk whenever suits you, on your own, with family or friends, or as part of a group. All you need is a phone and, ideally, a pair of headphones. If you are doing it with other people, you can also play the audio aloud through your phone or a speaker.
As you walk, you’ll be given a series of short prompts inviting you to notice what is around you and reflect on how the space feels to use. We might ask you to think about the places you enjoy, the areas you avoid, what feels welcoming or uncomfortable, what you notice about nature and biodiversity, and anything you would like to see protected, improved or changed.
There are no right or wrong answers, and you do not need any specialist knowledge. We are interested in your everyday experience of the place.
You’ll also have the opportunity to take and upload photographs as you go. These might be things you like, things that concern you, places that feel important, or details you think we should notice.
The walk is designed to be flexible and informal. You can move at your own pace, pause when you need to, and spend more time on the parts that feel relevant to you.
Everything you share will contribute to the Nearer to Nature project and help North Lanarkshire Council better understand how local greenspaces are experienced now, and what communities would like them to become in the future.
Nearer to Nature is being delivered with North Lanarkshire Council and Feeldwork Futures.
