THE BATHROOM DOOR PROJECT

Have you ever been sat on the toilet (maybe while on your period) in a public bathroom, reading all of the silly, funny, deep, sad, weird & wonderful things people have scribbled on the back of the door?
Here at Irise International's Menstrual Justice Committee, we are working on an exciting project that will use submissions from menstruators (past and present) all around the world to create a powerful piece of advocacy art that represents this age-old practice of scribbling on bathroom doors and walls - specifically with the focus of menstruation/periods and menstrual justice. We're looking for anonymous submissions that reflect your own thoughts/experiences/feelings about periods - whether it be about something you've gone through or advice you have to share. As long as it's relevant to periods/menstruation, you can write whatever you want. Funny, sad, traumatic, light-hearted. Tell us something you always wished you could say out loud, scream at your teacher/boss, share with younger menstruators, tell your doctor...or write on the bathroom door.
To share your words/phrase/thoughts/experiences that you'd like us to write on the bathroom door, you can write it in the box below (you can submit as many times as you'd like).
By submitting this form, you are consenting to your anonymous submission potentially being included in an art piece that will be shared on social media, the Irise International website and reports, and may be displayed publicly (e.g. in an exhibition or museum). If you would like to ask any questions before submitting, please email us at acushla@irise.org.uk. 18+ only. Worldwide. Please note: no hateful comments will be tolerated or included in this art piece.
