Resilient Production Planning, Scheduling and Orchestration in Danish Manufacturing

MADE React Questionnaire

Thank you for taking time to participate in this questionnaire. The purpose of this study is to understand how Danish manufacturing companies coordinate production planning, detailed scheduling and shop-floor execution when disruptions affect ongoing production. The study examines how information exchanged, how production decisions are adjusted, which performance objectives are prioritised and when a disruption requires coordination beyond the affected production area. This questionnaire is expected to take approximately 25-30 minutes to complete.
You will follow one connected manufacturing situation presented in three stages: 1. Coordination between planning, scheduling and execution within one production area. 2. Coordination between connected production areas when a disruption propagates. 3. System-level coordination when local recovery actions are no longer sufficient.
Across the three stages, you will be asked about:
• Relevant disruptions and their operational consequences • KPIs and trade-offs during disruption response • Information exchange, decisions authority and escalation • Current and preferred decision processes • Potential support from digital tools
Please answer based on how production planning and operational decisions are normally handled in your company or production area. Where the scenario uses generic production areas, relate them to the closest comparable processes, departments or production stages in your organisation. We are interested in actual practice, including manual procedures, informal coordination, local tools, and system-supported processes. There are no right or wrong answers.
Survey responses will be analysed and reported only in aggregated form for academic research purposes. No commercially sensitive production data, customer information, or company-specific performance figures are requested.
The questionnaire does not require your name, company name or email address. At the end, you may optionally provide contact details if you would like to receive a summary of the findings or are willing to be contacted for clarification. These details will be used only for that purpose and will not be included in the analytical dataset.
This questionnaire has been designed and developed by Filip Dzigurski, PhD Fellow at Aalborg University, as part of the MADE React project
