Goblins: Head of Growth Eng
In the the typical American classroom, kids get 1/30th of their teachers' attention, and everyone learns at the same pace. This is an enormous bottleneck to their learning.
Enter Goblins Math. Goblins teaches math 4x faster than the typical classroom. Think of it like having 30 teachers in a single class: It lets students draw math on any device, and it figures out the "why" behind their confusion, giving them instant feedback, building their conceptual foundation, and inspiring them to love math.
We're building the backbone of the AI-led school, on the journey to inspiring 1 billion kids to love to learn.
Our founding team is ex-teachers & Stanford (3x), Meta, Stripe, and Amazon alumni. If you want to work with a top 1% team that is obsessed with blowing kids' minds, apply below. We'd love to chat.
Goblins serves 20,000 paid students across the US, growing 2x MoM. We’ve raised $5.5M from the Gates Foundation, top-tier funds, and angels like Reid Hoffman and Eric Ries.
We are in the unique position of having a product that is both highly differentiated and demanded. We’ve nailed retention and tight PMF, and it’s time to grow, fast.
About This Role: "1 Million Students"
Your goal is to get Goblins to 1 Million Students in 12 months.
You have uncapped resources to make this happen: Want to spin up 500 programmatic SEO sites next week? Do it. Want to build a tool that scrapes every school board agenda in America? Do it.
You have the backing: You report to the founders and have the backing of the Gates Foundation. You have the budget to let you run wild.
Python > PowerPoint: This is a hybrid role: 50% Growth Engineering, 50% Growth Operations. Your obsession is the amount of top of funnel traffic you’re driving, and you’re willing to do whatever it takes to hit your goals.
We are looking for a "Vibe Coder" or Technical Marketer. Maybe you were a founder. Maybe you’re an engineer who hates tickets. You live at the intersection of Product, Growth, and Ops.
Some Cool Stuff You’ll Do
Part 1: Growth Engineering
- Growth Products: Build tools that provide value for teachers outside of the product, with on-ramps to the main product.
- Programmatic SEO: Build engines to generate thousands of high-quality, landing pages to capture teacher intent.
- Competitor Dunking: Systematically target users of old-fashioned products (IXL, Zearn) and show them the light.
- The "Free Tier" Loop: Engineer the referral mechanisms that turn 1 free teacher into 4.
Part 2: Growth Operations
- Teacher Champions Program: Our users are our best advocates. Figure out how to activate them to spread the word for us.
- Automated CX: Build the "Self-Driving" support stack. Use LLMs to manage user guides, answer support tickets, and automate new user onboarding so we can scale without a massive support team.
- The "Iron Man" Suit: You processize the unglamorous stuff so we go faster.
You Code to Win: You know Python/JS/SQL, but you don't care about "perfect code"—you care about conversion and speed.
You Scrape: You know how to get data from the web and use it to find our users.
You are an Amplifier: You get a kick out of building leverage. You see a manual process (like scheduling sales dinners or answering tickets), and you kill it with automation.
- Vibe Coder: You aren't a software engineer, but you aren't afraid of the command line. You use AI/No-Code to speed up your work.
The "Anti-Requirements" (Do NOT apply if):
- You are a "Brand Marketer" who focuses on PR without product substance.
- You need an engineering team to build a landing page for you.
- You think "Legal" and "Support" are below your pay grade (here, we automate them).
