We, the undersigned members of the Ontario Medical Association, are concerned that significant numbers of members experienced technical barriers that prevented or impaired their ability to register for, access, attend, or fully participate in the recent Annual General Meeting (AGM). We believe the OMA has a duty to understand the full scope of these failures and to report transparently to members.
We therefore call upon the OMA to conduct a formal, independent survey of all members to determine the nature and extent of technical access issues experienced at the AGM, and to report back within 30 days on its findings.
Under ONCA s. 53, an electronic meeting must be conducted in a manner that allows all persons entitled to attend to participate reasonably and communicate adequately throughout. Members who experienced access failures are encouraged to preserve records of their attempts to participate.
