Galmaeon is a community-based initiative rooted in Galmae-dong, Guri City, Korea.
In 2025, Galmaeon was officially selected as a “Village Community of Guri City”, and is currently receiving public support as part of Guri’s local community development program.
We aim to rediscover local values, connect neighbors, and promote cultural exchange with foreign residents and visitors.
Nestled between nature and the city, Galmaeon leverages the unique character of Galmae- where mountains, rivers, and diverse people coexist- to design programs that bring together local residents and foreigners.
Our activities include local tours, nature picnics, home visit programs, Korean culture exchange, and hands-on experience classes, all crafted to build emotional connection and real social networks across cultures and communities.
In particular, Galmaeon seeks to empower groups that are often overlooked in community planning -such as multicultural families, immigrants, career-interrupted women,
one-person households, and self-employed individuals - by inviting them to actively plan, lead, and participate in our initiatives.
Through shared experiences and mutual understanding, we are building a sustainable, inclusive platform where everyone can care, learn, and grow together in the place we call
home.
