Set specific deliverables/milestones for assessment, like completing your first ticket by week one

It's a lengthy checklist of tasks to complete

Categorized by department: General, Engineering, Team, then Function

Structured by timeslots: 1st day, 1st week, 2nd week, etc

Figuring out the internal tools and systems

I contact my manager, buddy, or team via chat

I wait to meet my hiring manager with all my questions

I search for answers online or in company/team documentation.

Access to a central repository of information

We use different onboarding documents on multiple tools. Ex. Confluence and Github, Internal E-learning System

One per position or function (Senior, Junior, Frontend, Backend, QA, etc.)

Each team has its onboarding documents, which differ from those of other teams.

Some parts of the onboarding documents are shared with other teams or departments. My team can’t update the shared parts.

Another team manages onboarding documentation, e.g. HR team controls the onboarding documentation

Not very often, when something gets outdated

On every new hire or the new hire does it

Manually by copy/paste from different sources

Semi-manually, some parts get updated in different tools, e.g. Internal E-learning tool

Automatically by integration with different sources/tools, e.g. embedding Google Docs, E-learning tool, …

It’s a long list of tasks and checkboxes that the new hire has to go through

It is categorized by department or function. General onboarding then Engineering then team then function in the team

It is structured into timeslots, 1st day, 1st week, 2nd week, …

I ask the new hire to share status update regularly
