A monthly one-on-one coffee pairing for Reading-based intermediaries working in lower mid-market M&A, investments, and financing.
The Reading professional community already gives a different impression to London - it’s condensed into a smaller footprint, and I feel there’s already a strong network of existing connections and familiarity within the community.
The idea for London’s M&A Coffee Club was to help members find new intermediary connections in the lower mid-market transaction space.
The basis is simple: it’s a relaxed networking concept. Pairings work like a “blind date” to avoid preconceived ideas. You’re there to meet the person, not the role. Everyone shares the same lower mid-market focus, so all pairings should be relevant; the only aim is to see if you genuinely get along.
If you click with someone, you’ve got the foundation for a great relationship - share knowledge, make introductions, build trust. And if you don’t click? At worst, you’ve spent 30 minutes over a coffee.
So, would the same concept work for Reading’s professional community? If you’re interested in a Reading Coffee Club, feel free to drop any thoughts, new ideas or suggestions below.
Sure, in London it was a way to meet new people, but in Reading, is it simply a chance to strengthen existing relationships?? Serendipitously being paired with someone you haven’t been able to sit down with for a while…
