Junior Software Engineer, Backend

We are looking for a driven and talented Backend Software Engineer to join our team and take on the following responsibilities:

• Design, develop and maintain efficient, scalable and reliable backend systems

• Write clean, maintainable, and testable code

• Participate in the full development lifecycle, from design to deployment

• Work closely with cross-functional teams to develop excellent user experiences

• Continuously discover, evaluate, and adopt new technologies to maximise development efficiency

Requirements

• Strong communication and collaboration skills

• Excellent problem-solving and learning ability

• Testing mindset and an eye for clean code

• Thorough knowledge of JavaScript and/or TypeScript

• Familiarity with Node.js, or other server-side technologies

• Familiarity with non-relational database systems, such as MongoDB or Redis

• Strong understanding of REST API design principles

• Familiarity with Git

• Degree in Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent work experience

• A passion for great UX

• Proven literacy in English

• Military obligations must be fulfilled (if applicable)

Optional skills that will make you stand out:

• Familiarity with TDD and testing frameworks, such as Jest or Mocha
• Familiarity with cloud-hosting platforms, such as Heroku or AWS
• Experience working on small to medium-sized, cross-functional, Agile teams
• Experience with task planning and effort estimation
• Familiarity with serverless technologies, such as AWS Lambda
• Familiarity with performance monitoring tools, such as New Relic or Datadog
• Contributions to open-source projects
